Yizhong Street, Night Market_ Yizhong Shopping District
It is located near Chungyo Department Store and linked with Sanmin Shopping District. National Taichung University of Science and Technology, Taichung First Senior High School, and National Taiwan University of Sport are not far away from it. After nearly 30 years since the first opening of a national performance venue, NTT is a 21st-century cultural facility that is not only a new landmark in the city, but also represents a cultural step forward.Taichung is located in the geographical heart of Taiwan and is a city with a storied, profound cultural heritage. The walls flow into the ceilings with no clear boundaries dividing them. In fact, the entire space flows without boundaries, allowing the venue to host nearly any type of event.The theater is like whirlpool in central Taiwan, the crowds striving for a cosmopolitan flavor will be attracted and flow inwards, causing the arts to seep into every corner of the city.Also because of its special construction, Toyo Ito described this building as one you use your ears to listen to. Accompanied by the theater's natural lighting which constantly changes, when you walk through the theater you hear different sounds, producing unique sensations.This building is not just being used for opera, the building itself is an opera. Enter the hall, and you begin a transformative journey through this ingeniously-designed opera.The venue has six stories, featuring the Grand Theater, Playhouse, a magical Sky Garden and a shopping center. On the second basement level there are Black Box, Rehearsal Rooms, and a mechanical room. Outdoors there are a fountain, Outdoor Plaza and Outdoor Theater.From the outside you can view the curved, concrete walls and glass screens which majestically adorn the building. Caowu Square

Chung Hua Night Market
Chung Hua Night Market is filled with many old Taiwanese snack stands. It has over 40 years of history. Some of the vendors have gone through many generations. In the meantime, it is the biggest old night market in Taichung City. Many snack stands are scattered around on Chung Hua Road. You can find everything here. There are also unique snacks, such as snakes and turtles. There are the Rixin and Global movie theater, and Wonderful Cinemas for second round movies, which provide you with different movie choices.
Miyahara
Situated nearby Taichung Train Station on the bank of Luchuan, Miyahara is a red-brick architecture built by Miyahara Takeo, a Japanese ophthalmology doctor in 1927. It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After the surrender of Japan in 1945, Miyahara became Taichung Health Bureau. As time passed by, the suspended Health Bureau slowly decayed and became an unused dangerous building.Fortunately, Dawn Cake, a pastry company renowned for its pineapple cakes, acquired the building and preserved Miyahara's original red-brick walls and archway. The interior decor was redesigned like Hogwarts in the movie Harry Potter. The water well in the middle of the building is redecorated into a modern-looking fundraising box made of glass.Visitors to Miyahara are not only recommended to appreciate the details of the historic architecture but also try Dawn Cake’s signature ice cream, bubble tea and pastries wrapped in nostalgic packings!
Zhongxiao Night Market
Dated back to the Japanese colonial period, Zhongxiao Night Market is the place of abundant late-night snack choices in Taichung City. Meat, seafood, grilled duck, beverages, oyster vermicelli, etc, you name it. It is also where the renowned Ding Wang Spicy Hot Pot originated. Unlike other shopping districts, Zhongxiao Night Market is known exclusively for the delicious food. Situated next to the Third Market which closes in the afternoon, Zhongxiao Nigh Market starts warming up right after the Third Market closes, so most vendors do not open until 4 in the afternoon.Most food come in a satisfying portion at a cheap price, so you can devour it all at once without concerning over a tight budget. Some of the must-try dishes include bamboo rice, fried chicken, Zhongxiao BBQ, vermicelli and sugarcane juice.
Taichung Park
Taichung Park is the oldest park in Taichung city. Built in the Japanese-ruling era and with a space of 10 acres, the park base at that time was the garden, named Ruixuan and actually donated by the Lin family in Wufeng, together with the old Beimen Building. Taichung Park features many pretty landscapes, such an artificial lake, pavilion, arch bridge, etc. There are also lots of recreational equipments, like outdoor stadium, playground, and tennis court. Some extraordinary European-style building and Houxing Pavilion were constructed in 1908 in celebration of the launch of the Taiwan Railway stretching from north to south in Taiwan. Houxing Pavilion has also been the symbol of Taichung City since the Japanese-ruling era and it’s hence officially declared as a city-designated historical site in 1999.
